Angrboda

Given Name: Einar Strombeck

Age: Early 40s

Path: Thyrsus

Order: (former) Silver Ladder

Quote: You think your order is ancient? Roots in Atlantis? Mankind wasn't even a single-celled creature when my lords ruled the universe….

Background: Angrboda could once claim the male pronoun, but Einar gave up his sex in sacrifice to his hideous masters. Now Angrboda possesses no gender—a true androgyne, with no generative organs at all. In return, the mage gained the ability to adjust skin color to that of the surroundings: blending in like a chameleon. To better utilize this power, Angrboda often wears no clothes, or wears only clothes that can be removed quickly: robes or tear-away track pants.

Einar was once a mage pledged to the Silver Ladder order. His family was killed by terrorists (they were in the wrong place at the wrong time), and he spent the next 10 years hunting down all members of the terrorist organization. Before he even came close to getting them all, he had left Wisdom far behind. He fell to temptation, accepting the offer of a dark and twisted mentor to help him kill those who had wronged him. It was a small step from there to complete servitude to the Hidden Lords, those who lie outside of time, fourth-dimensional entities battering at the gates of space-time. If the Oracles could allow such tragedy to come to his loved ones, then Einar had no hesitation spitting in their face. He turned against the Supernal World and became an agent of Disease.

Angrboda barely remembers Einar's former life as a family man and high priest. Attempts to appeal to any conscience from that era fall on deaf ears, as Morvran has discovered on more than one occasion.

Angrboda has a companion in taint: a small imp familiar that looks like something out of Hieronymous Bosch's visions of Hell. The shadow name Angrboda is that of the Norse giantess who birthed monsters such as Fenris.

Description: Once well built, Angrboda is now thin and seems somewhat malnourished, wearing loose robes or clothing that can be removed quickly. Angrboda's skin is most often pale white, even gleaming beneath very thin blond hair.

That's just a glimpse of the Who's Who of Awakened society. You'll be seeing more of those characters in time, as well as their companions, rivals, and dire enemies.

Next week, we look a bit more closely at this Fallen World in which mages live, charting some of the mystical geography of the physical landscape.

Excellent; Lords of the Abyss are the clearly high-wisdom oracles. Yay for Nephandi.

Delighted to see the Nephandi return in some form.

Creepy, but very cool.

The Nephandi are back, and how! icon1.gif

And this time, they're more of a direct antagonist: They're servants of the most obvious enemy, the Abyss itself.

Doesn't say anything about their wisdom though just that they serve hidden lords but yay for the nephandi.
