There are a number of films you've listed that I would highly question as exhibiting a Steampunk aesthetic, Cybercat. Buckaroo Banzai? From Hell? The 1986 Labyrinth? Zulu? What is remotely Steampunk about Zulu? Some of these film could be considered good inspiration for a Victorian setting, perhaps. Some others are simply fantastical, with little connection with the Victorian period or with the Steampunk aesthetic. What are your criteria for including a film on the list?

I'm not trying to be rude, by the way. I'm simply a bit baffled. There are plenty of solid steampunk-inspiring/inspired films on your list. I'm just at a loss to understand some of the others.

This is a list I found browsing online and I cut and pasted it. I think the person that devised the list was going for "flavor" rather than a strict adherence to dateline and steam. There are many movies on the list that I would not consider Steampunk. However, the list is large and covers most of the best known Steampunk movies. So I thought I would post it despite the fact that some of the names on the list could be debated.

There is a movie on that list that is more Steampunk than Zulu and Coraline, and by Steampunk i mean not so much but it is a decent-ish glimpse at a utopia where you never age and don't have any worries money and belongings aren't issues shut off in a protective dome from the rest of the world. Zardoz. As much as my friends and i joke about how bad the movie is, and dear god it's bad it's worth watching for a dystopian setting.

Going by the Science Fiction with a 19th century setting definition of Steampunk I'd add:

The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1376213/ (not good)

The Amazing Screw-On Head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbsDvGtTRWU (awesome!)

Cowboys & Aliens: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409847/

The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1179025/?ref_=wl_li_tt
