Plots, rumors and story hooks

Recommended Posts

The general idea here, packmates, is for you to submit plots, rumors or story hooks which might inspire a scene, one shot story or even a chronicle.

--------------------

For example:

"The word on the street is that Andrea Waters has been seen less than a block away from the Argentum Building with Crash of Thunder. They were reported to have been holding hands and smiling."

--------------------

Please post your plots, rumors and story hooks below.

Elizabeth Leroi, wolf-blooded cousin to a renowned local alpha, disappears while returning home from the library. The pack is asked to assist in locating the child as a personal favor to the alpha. During their search, the pack discovered that Elizabeth was kidnapped by a group of students dabbling with the occult. The pack tracks the cultists to their sanctum within the steam tunnels underneath the local University and charges in to rescue the young girl. However, they discover the bodies of cultists littering the floor, all dead or dying, and Elizabeth is nowhere to be found. Interrogating one of the dying cultists, they learn that the girl was claimed by their patron, a death spirit, and escaped. The pack is now is hot pursuit of the duguthim and has a decision to make. Once located, do they dispatch the creature, killing an innocent in the process, or do they attempt to subdue the girl and exorcise the spirit from her? If they kill the duguthim, what will be the reaction of the alpha? Will she accept this as the act of Uratha following the Oath of the Moon or will she seek vengeance for the death of her kin? If they subdue the girl and exorcise the spirit from her, will their more militant neighbors view them as sentimental and weak and attempt to seize their territory?

A legendary klaive-smith comes into your territory, offering a marvelous fetish-blade to your alpha for shelter.

But if he is as mighty and well-armed as they say, why does he need your help? And what, exactly, does he seek shelter from?

It is well known among the Uratha that, of all creatures that walk the material world, humans are the only ones that don't have a reflection in the spirit world (except vampires, who are dead, and werewolves, who are their own spirit reflections). Yet despite this, there have been reports from the spirits of humans in the spirit wilds- not emotion spirits that look like humans, but real humans. The elder werewolves in the region have largely dismissed these claims, but their increasing frequency has cause a few younger wolves to start paying attention.

Best used to introduce a cabal of mages to the setting as NPCs for whatever purpose you may desire.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the forests of the Pacific Northwest, tales of Sasquatch sightings are common. Must werewolves assume that these accounts are the Lunacy-induced interpretations of hikers seeing their kind in Dalu or Gauru form, either Forsaken or Pure. However, a lone Hunter in Darkness missing an arm has recently emerged from the woods, telling a panicked tale of how a hairy man-like creature had torn his pack apart, and how he only escaped by biting off the army in the creature's grasp. He claims with absolute certainty that the creature wasn't a Pure in Gauru- something any werewolf should be able to recognize. Even more disturbing, the lone Meninna died in his sleep soon after his escape from the woods, with no apparent cause save for an apparently healed-over scar of a bitemark around his skull, which no one had noticed while he was alive.
I have two very, very basic ones. I havent fleshed them out except in my head.
A trio of Rokhan hybrids are selling their services as assassins—and risking the secrecy of the Shadow.
Converting an Ivory Claw who fled his pack/initiation. The Lodge of Salvation will surely be interested, but can they arrive before the Pure.
Then here are two more, Chicago-specific however:
Three mages make it their hobby to investigate and catalogue the Shadow. They’ve fought Gurdilag’s minions, and had an uneasy alliance with Max Roman. Now that rising tension has forced them to move to Chicago, they are in the dark about their new surroundings. They were promised by Roman he would put them in touch with his contacts here. but he's been busy, so they will have to search the Whispers out themselves.
The players just went through their First Change in the rural areas near Chicago, which are controlled by the pure. They are rescued by Murder Jack and his Black Sky Walkers, but can they escape to Chicago and friendly ground. (NOTE: This is a game-starter, and it takes place prior to Tribal initiation. This means no Renown or gifts except the Auspice ones)
Well, I read it somewhere in the past. Like it too much and need to write it here.
"Never look too deep into your eyes in the mirror they say. Why? The eyes are the door to the soul, and our soul is not a pleasant thing to see."
Recently, an entire pack with wiped out. Not in the conventional way, either. No invading pure or opportunistic neighbors. Not by a powerful spirit or even by an ambitious, but misguided, group of vampires.
The pack died one by one. All picked off in the night, on the open streets. They died from a single shot to the head, delivered by a high powered rifle. The only bullet so far found was pure silver.
Someone who knows enough to spot a werewolf and knows that silver can hurt them is also a good shot. There is a sniper lose in town. Who will his next targets be?
Well first off I like the Sasquatch idea. The sniper idea is pretty neat too.
Mine:
The local covenant of vampires has good relations with the prominent tribe in the area. But when two neonates turn up dead, their throats torn out, the kindred prince blames the werewolves, and has the youngest child of the alpha abducted claiming he will kill her should the murderer not come forward to offer his/her life in sacrifice.
Now...the werewolves could claim that none of them did such a thing...which could lead to there either being another thing lurking in the night, perhaps a rogue wolf.
The murderer could also turn up to say that the two vampires ambushed him/her, and killed them in self defense, and that while they would give their life to save the young cub, they don't see why they should die when it was the vampires that initated the fight.
There are several ways this could play out.
Ok, now mine and I have three:
1. a Pure story:
The newly formed pack is on his first ritual hunt and the newest members have decided which family to slaughter. After the whole blood bath, they discover that actually one of their own lays dead in a neigbouring room, his body full of claw marks and bite wounds. Where once was a window there is nowonly a big whole as if something jumped right through it. The examination of the body reveals that the tooth marks are completely atypical for a werewolf. About three months later, they find another one of their pack dead, her body similarly mutilated. Over the course of several months one member after another is found dead, killed by a wide varity of methods. In the end only three characters remain.
2. The hunter hunted
An unknown werewolf stumbles into territory and begs for the packs help. Hes all shaking and SCared to death. After a while he gets talkative and tells that "she" is following him. Eventually the pack-members find out, the the new wolf is actually Dar-Us, a well known killer. What is it that even dar-us sih fürchtet.
3. A new sort of bloodsuckers
The pack/packs notice that the typical vampire activity gets pretty low. Afer a while they don*t find any evidence for leeaches at all and instead come across "living vampires". What are they?
I very much enjoy the holly-wood opps. Wrong bag, wrong car, wrong girl.
(1) -- The players steal a car in the process of some other event. In the back seat they find a backpack, in side cash. Not bound but loose as if stuffed in quickly. In the bottom of the back pack, a fetish pistol. When it fires a flash of darkness accompanies the shot. With 3 or more successes the target of the weapon is blinded for a number of turns equal to the number of successes.
This powerful weapon and bag of cash come at a price. Some wolf will come looking for it.
(2) -- The players find themselves in a sting operation. They need information. The contact who has it is under FBI and DHS surveillance. They find out the sting is going down in two days. They are outgunned, no time to plan a huge operation. But they need that information. They have to get in and get the information, or in the least get the man who has it out. Yet the whole area, block, building, mansion, is under both video and audio surveillance.
(3) -- The players come home to find their apartment / home/ living area is the scene of a crime. Police are crawling all over the area. A gun man kidnapped his girlfriend / wife / child. While being pursued by the police either on foot if the players are in an apt, or by car if in a house. He kicked in the door to their place before a standoff with the police that results in him killing the hostage and taking out one cop before being killed himself. This has the added benefit of fucking over players who plan a lot. Their safe place is compromised. Any workshop type operations they have set up will be seen by police. Bomb making, surveillance photos tacked to the wall, a truck full of weapons with no serial numbers. Now the pack has to deal with the cops, and whatever else.
(4) -- And my favorite. Aftermath. The players find themselves comming into the aftermath of some situation. They are passing by a jewlery store when the door explodes and five men with automatic weapons rush out. or they are diving when directly in front of them a car does a head on colision. Its being followed by police. The survivors start a gun fight in braod daylight. Some of the wolves are hit. How will they deal with the fact that they are healing even as people watch?
A rather depressed looking yet stunningly attractive woman enters a bar and actually makes eye contact with the werewolf character and returns his smile with sadness / lust in her eyes. She just wants to feel alive again after a pretty horrible hunt where one of her hunter friends turned werewolf and killed another one after their attempts to help him following a suspicious wolf bite went sour when he had his First Change. They tumble and when he next spots her he's in wolf form and she smells pregnant. She's not sure if she wants to abort or not. He doubtless wants her to keep the kid. But the more he meddles in her life, the more likely they're going to figure each other out. And once they do figure each other, what do they do?
If he discovers she's a hunter but she doesn't know what he is, is that better? Its vital to produce children for the war and she's obviously got good genes. Does she let her live until the child is born and then kill her and doom his child to be an orphan? Can he even bring himself to do that after establishing some sort of rapport?
And what will the other werewolf - the one who may still feel clinging loyalty to his surviving hunter pals - do when he learns of it? The hunters have left him largely well enough alone, not being able to bring themselves to try to kill him, but that tentative peace may end if his own pack finds out.
You can make it more complicated by making the hunter group exorcists rather than hard-core creature killers thus making them dabblers in the spirit world (even on an exorcism level) while making it ambiguous enough about whether they need to die since they're not targeting werewolves.
