  1. Y halo thar

Hey new person! Welcome to the site Were a bunch of cool people who love talking about World of Darkness and stuff. I thinks its awesome to have another creative person sign up, can't wait to see your work!
  2. In Character Thread II

From behind the first young man stumbles a noticeably shorter figure sporting a open white trench coat, what looks like a laser tag vest, and a motorcycle helmet. Taking the helmet off, he is revealed to be a man in his early 20s with unnaturally spiked blown hair and sideburns that somehow curve away from his face into violent points. He glances around the bar with fear and Redbull addled eyes that have not seen sleep for several days as if looking for a hidden foe. After stumbling towards an open seat at the bar he speaks to the bartender in a loud and not quite coherent voice. "Is it safe here? Did the furbin chickens get here first?"
  3. Promethean set in OWod

Besides Humanity? All the other things that go bump in the night. Maybe bitchslapping elders is a bit far, but they should still be able to give them a run for their money at about half way though their Pilgrimage. There is also choosing NOT to use their powers to keep a low profile. Using Pyros would still reveal their true natures and threaten the humans around them. Exposure to humans is vital to the Pilgrimage. Flinging lightning around tends to make them freak out and get the torch and pitchforks (or assault rifles and tanks). This also extends to the supernatural. Mages are human, vampires were once human, Changelings are partially human, and all have something to offer the Promethean on his journey towards humanity. Their power should not be entirely under their control. Continuing with the Hulk metaphor and the nature of Disquiets/Wasteland, Pyros is a raging inferno that is barely kept contained by their budding mortal shell and consciousness. Exploding like a nuke would be a possibility at the higher levels of Azoth. Powers should activate on their own or lash out in unexpected ways. Get pissed off? You just ripped off your friend's arm. Get depressed? Everyone in ten feet of you tries to kill themselves. The Dark Heresy Perils of the Warp table is not far off from what I'm imagining.
  4. Promethean set in OWod

I want to start off by saying the first RPG book I ever read cover to cover was Promethean. I don't remember how I found out about the game, but that purple book turned me on to White Wolf and NWod and from their to a bunch of other games. It sucks that I never was able to find a group willing to play it, but it is still one of my favorite books to glance through every once in a while. I kind of held off looking at OWod because all I heard was that it was too crazy, systematically broken, racist (I'm looking at you Gypsy), or just plain stupid stupid. A while ago I started looking through OWod and found that even though there was a lot of 90's derp, I really liked the global scale of the setting, the some times gonzo, but usually entertaining story, and the generally highers stakes set for PCs. Then I got thinking why not take that and apply It to Promethean. What If Promethean was set within the Old World of Darkness? First off would be a higher power level. The best piece of art I have ever seen from White Wolf involves a Frankenstein ripping off the arm of a werewolf just as he is surrounded by its pack, which he will soon beat to death with said arm. This is awesome, but mechanically impossible in NWod without ridiculous amount of exp. Prometheans are basically a race of Incredible Hulks; big and lonely monsters who occasionally throw cars at other monsters. The game doesn't let you do that though. The ideas give for crossovers usually paint a Promethean coming into town as a big deal to the whole supernatural community when even a few fledgling vampires could take one out easily. Its anticlimactic when the Hulk can be taken out by a gang of magical crack heads. I want to see Prometheans bitchslapping elder werewolves, making 5th Generation vampires cry, and throw mages around like rag dolls. I want to see epic, yet tragic hero struggling with their newly forged identities as well as the raging spirit that dwelling within them. Pyros is a godly force and that entails godly power. Questions? Comments?
  5. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Homunculi

While I do like FMA I don't think Homunculi would work well as mages or even spirits. Have you looked into Promethean at all? Pandoran creation and powers would work great to stat out these monsters. Gluttony would work as a very dum Ishtari Sublimati with the Pandoran powers Frog Tongue, Armor, Perfected Bezoar to blunt objects, Swallow, Titanic Form, and the Mage rote Self Healing (every one of them should probably have this) or fuck it and just say they regenerate a point Lethal damage every round like a werewolf. I encourage you to mix and match powers from other splats to get your monsters the way you want them. Thematically and mechanically though all of these characters fit with Promethean Pandorans so it would be easier to just use the that. Edit: Did not see that this post was four months old so that was probably a waste to type.
  6. Fighting Style: Tai Chi

Have you thought about using Aikido from from Armory: Reloaded? Its defensive and throw based so it should cover what you want to do.
  7. Fighting Style: Black Wind

Seems like a good fighting style for a monkish Slasher character.
  8. Lyrics that Make you think Promethean

Edguy - Pride Of Creation I can't figure the Lord down in funeral gravity One finishing touch and the creature is coming alive As I kneel down and pray I know God is watching over me Is He pissing himself When He's knocking me out of my stride And on day number eight When the sun is about to go down Were we go, what a show What a nose for blow [Chorus:] You're alive said the maker and smiled to the aardvark You're divine by the grace of the master above You're alive said the maker and smiled to the aarkvard You're divine by the grace of the master above Hey Frankenstein are you the one I think you are Godfather If we're divine you are bizarre I hear you laughing from the loge above At my expense for your entertainment Hey Lord above why don't your armies ever smile Godfather why don't the ever dress in style And never share the humor that you surely have Creating me for your entertainment Why do they have to get married Before they do what they do Everyday anyway, when there's hell to pay [Chorus] We fold our hands afraid of what we've done Fear is the key to you - thy kingdom come You shake your head and have another wine Don't you almost die laughing wondering why Running in the dust, running in the dust Afraid of the hail stones cold as ice Running in the dust, running in the dust Straight to the wastelands We'll never read your signs [Chorus:] You're alive, oh you're alive You're alive, the pride of creation Oh you're the pride of creation, yes you are Oh you're the pride of creation [Music & Lyrics: Tobias Sammet] I can't figure the Lord down in funeral gravity One finishing touch and the creature is coming alive As I kneel down and pray I know God is watching over me Is He pissing himself When He's knocking me out of my stride And on day number eight When the sun is about to go down Were we go, what a show What a nose for blow [Chorus:] You're alive said the maker and smiled to the aardvark You're divine by the grace of the master above You're alive said the maker and smiled to the aarkvard You're divine by the grace of the master above Hey Frankenstein are you the one I think you are Godfather If we're divine you are bizarre I hear you laughing from the loge above At my expense for your entertainment Hey Lord above why don't your armies ever smile Godfather why don't the ever dress in style And never share the humor that you surely have Creating me for your entertainment Why do they have to get married Before they do what they do Everyday anyway, when there's hell to pay [Chorus] We fold our hands afraid of what we've done Fear is the key to you - thy kingdom come You shake your head and have another wine Don't you almost die laughing wondering why Running in the dust, running in the dust Afraid of the hail stones cold as ice Running in the dust, running in the dust Straight to the wastelands We'll never read your signs [Chorus:] You're alive, oh you're alive You're alive, the pride of creation Oh you're the pride of creation, yes you are Oh you're the pride of creation
  9. I know some of you might be against the idea of nailing down a definite cosmology in NWod, maybe because it takes away from the mystery, don't want to proclaim one splat right, ect. Forget that, Based on your reading of the books, play, or personal vision how do you see the various supernatural realms and hellscapes fitting together in your mind? Fate of the soul after death? What happens to a vampire if they reach Final Death? Use them all or use one, I don't care, just do it. My personal theory is that the Promethean Principle and/or God Machine is the engine that powers and constructs the universe. The Supernal Realms are partially the condensed thoughts of the universe (which includes planets besides earth, meaning that there are other sentient species besides a derivative of humans, but they probably look and act mostly human. This is because of all consciousness being a splinter of the Divine Fire, but they are probably all dead because of Mage dickery), partially the Pyros condensing into a more base substance. The "lower half" of the universe is entirely moved by the actions and emotions of humans and other forms of life due to the tiny bit of Divine Fire that is in all life. The Hedge, Arcadia, and The Abyss are the result of humans who were able to awaken their inner spark (Mages) and through a massive fuck up broke the spine of the universe causing the previously enclosed universe to start to crack, causing the void beyond reality to seep in. This also destroyed the strands of Fate that had held to together (think of it as the muscle of the universe) to fray and snap leading to internal holes of form and allowing for the creation of Arcadia and the True Fae. These holes though also allowed direct access to raw Pyros, allowing for the creation of Prometheans. Mortals can usually do because while they may not know their inner spark well enough to consciously access it, their blindness to the rest of the world allows them to focus on what is the most important thing to them. This causes their own spark to momentary grow to super nova levels and calling down raw Pyros like a magnet. (as the book says "Azoth calls to Azoth") When a vampire is turned they loose this spark and replaced with a major Abyssal entity known as the Beast aka Stryks, which due the fact that the Abyss is incapable of creation on its own, latched on to the most creative thing in the world, Mankind. I say this because when a vampire frenzies or drops to morality 0 they basically try to destroy all life around them, thought the way it does this is influence by the various flavors of vampire and echos of the human host. Because of the natures of Pyros to create, if Prometheans could be mobilized they could be potent weapon against the Abyss. Now regular ghosts do not loose their spark, but it is dimmed greatly and requires it to be renewed. This causes the ghost to become spiritually heavy and to sink down in the Underworld over time and if they don't taken out by one many other horrible thing down their they will eventually reach the Ocean( I forgot the exact name). They are then pulled down and slowly stripped of any personal markers like memory, personality, identity until it reaches the bottom. All that remains is a small conscious mote of Pyros that is then absorbed back into the God Machine and the process begins again. That was all probably a bit rambley, but I'll give it a bit of editing later after I have had some sleep.
