  2. Just so you know, a police sketch artist did a sketch of Frankenstein's Creature, in order to compare the description with how he turned out in popular media.
  3. C20_Book_of_Freeholds

Which means it'll be on general sale on DTRPG eventually. Give the backers time to enjoy the book first. I'm guessing, end of the month, start of May. Mid May at the latest.
  4. We're back? Awesome.

Welcome back into the shadows, Jacob.

Hello, and welcome to Shadownessence! Make yourself home here in the shadows.
  6. Things I will do if I am ever the Vampire

Add to those:- "I shall occasionally siphon off money from some of my long-term investments to sink into scientific research into human longevity, as well as local blood banks and needle drives. If I look like the kind of humanitarian who looks after people, rather than feeding off them, the Heroes are far more likely to chase after the usual rancid-looking biker vampires in the district outside my patch instead, being the more obvious target as they are."
  7. Posting Book Lists

I'm slowly going to wend my way through the various game lines, creating links to where you can buy the books on DriveThruRPG, where they are available. So far this week (w/e 2018-03-11), I've done the game lines Beast: the Primordial, Demon: the Descent, Geist: the Sin-Eaters and Promethean: the Created. I will start on the other Chronicles of Darkness lines, including the actual Chronicles of Darkness / God-Machine Chronicle Blue Book line, next week, and then go through the World of Darkness lines.

  13. The following new books were released 2018-02-08 for Beast: the Primordial and Demon: the Descent:- Beast Players Guide "You know what’s out there? No, you don’t. Stop trying to list them off. Yeah, yeah, you’ve met the vampires and the werewolves and the ghosts and so forth, but you haven’t seen a hundredth of what’s really there. Look, I’m not shaming you. I’m trying to make a point. You don’t know. You never will. There’s no complete picture, no magic moment where you see the whole truth and get to yell “ah-ha!” You don’t know. I don’t know. We never will. That’s really a good thing, my sister, because it means there’s so much yet to see." —Zmei Night Horrors: Enemy Action "Fighting the Machine is like fighting the ocean. You literally cannot hurt it. Doesn’t matter how much poison we dump into the ocean. We’ll only kill the things in it. We’ll never kill it. Same with the God-Machine. Kill angels, traitors, stigmatics, cultists, cryptids, whatever, you’ll never hurt the Machine Itself. No, that doesn’t mean we stop trying. You stop trying, you drown. Screw that." —Mr. Bliss, Guardian Inquisitor
  14. What is this game?

Looks like the most primordial creatures of legend, such as Dragons, Krakens and Rocs, or even modern-day primordial monsters like Hulk, can only exist in a subdomain of the mages' Astral Plane. Their primordial astral forms seek out and Devour ordinary mortals, who then wander the globe looking for mortal fear to feed upon. So they prey on ordinary people, giving them nightmares and feeding - literally - off their fear. And if they feed too much, cause too many people to suffer, then Heroes spontaneously emerge, drawn instinctively to seek out and kill the Beast. They have one advantage: they have a power to make other supernaturals (vampires, werewolves, changelings, every species except mortal hunters and the Unchained) recognise them, and even accept the Beasts as friends. So Beasts can be found hanging with vampire coteries, exchanging recipes for biscuits with Seers of the Throne, discussing hunting tactics with Uratha, attending parties held by Sin-Eaters and so on.

  20. The GMC was the first of the Chronicle series to come out. In this case, the God-Machine Chronicle eventually morphed into the Chronicles of Darkness Core Rulebook, aka NWoD 2.0. The revised Chronicles of Darkness mechanic basically became the foundational engine for the other series to follow, though nowadays it looks as if all the followup series, from Vampire: the Requiem Second Edition onwards, come with stripped-down versions of the basic CoD engine, meaning that it is no longer necessary to own the parent CoD Core Rulebook and the daughter game's Core Rulebook.
  21. How rare are the old books now?

If there are people who collect old WW books, the cutoff point has got to be about the time that Onyx Path went POD with DriveThruRPG. That'd be just about 2011, the year V20 came out. Any old original WoD books, and any ChoD books released before 2011, were printed by Onyx Path - or by White Wolf via their printers, which means that they were effectively limited print runs, as compared to modern POD. Any Black Dog books and Arthaus books published and printed up before the Time of Judgment, also, would be comparatively valuable. Original books, also, with glitches and lots of Page XX would be welcomed, such as the Chronicles of Darkness Antagonists book with the "bloomer zombies." Maybe the rarities and, ironically, some of the books that people would turn their noses up at these days if they were released in their older form - such as World of Darkness: Gypsies, Destiny's Price, World of Darkness: Mafia - would sell a bit more, if only because so few of those books ever sold. I'd have to go and look up the ratings, but if you have a first print run Vampire: the Requiem which had some of the blood of the WW staffers mixed in with the ink, hold on to that.
  22. I am so pleased

Welcome back! Spread the word about SnE. Let's bring some old hands back into the fold, and hopefully some new blood, too.
  23. Bloody...Ô_Ô

    Welcome back!
  24. has anyone playtested V5 yet?

    Cool. Enjoy.
  25. has anyone playtested V5 yet?

I don't know if it's just me, or if people have been avoiding it because of the controversy surrounding the earlier release of the pre-alpha test last year, particularly the "career paedo" pregen PC character in the playtest scenario.
