  1. Sales targets for 5e

Which means that the fans will have to do their bit to push V5 and to remind people that the game exists and people should give it a try. And give examples of why.
  2. If you're looking forward to getting Vampire: the Masquerade V5, don't worry - you won't have long to wait! But first, this. There has been a shitstorm this week, embroiling both Onyx Path and White Wolf, and involving the online right-wingers and trolls (I'm not calling those punks "alt" anything, not when the word "nazi" will do). Here are some interesting links you might like to see. https://www.geeknative.com/61962/white-wolf-just-told-alt-right-fck-off/ http://theonyxpath.com/the-squick-and-the-dead-monday-meeting-notes/ Compelling reasons to wait for V5 to come out of hiding (which, by all accounts, could be as early as July 26th - though they could hold back till GenCon). I also have it on good authority to tune in to Darker Days Radio on July 26th, when their reporting embargo on V5 is lifted, and they can discuss at length what White Wolf promise you, dear readers, in V5. So things are looking very exciting for Vampire: the Masquerade.
  3. http://www.dogwithdice.com/whitewolfaredead/ Going by the reviews, the new v5 of V:tM is not something to write home about. It's pitched towards the mindless modern internet neonazi sorts. This review declares that White Wolf are even dead to him now. He even recommends you buy 7th ed Call of Cthulhu instead.
  4. Further supplemental information - both Onyx Path and, bless them, White Wolf, have released official statements divorcing themselves from anything resembling nazis and fascist apologists. Here's the post with the links to White Wolf's and Onyx Path's rebuttals to the nazis.
  5. And it looks as if the original post has now been taken down. So, nothing to see here, folks. We shall all apparently see what all the fuss is about, come July 26th - that being a date I obtained from a very reliable source. Otherwise, thanks for sharing.
  6. Let me know when you get to the playable character who's a paedophile.
  7. July 26, 2018

Something interesting is going to happen on July 26th 2018. Just keep an eye out on White Wolf on DriveThruRPG about that date.
  8. Mage: the Awakening Second Edition

The PDF is multilayered. I found out recently that you can open up a column on the left of the PDF reader (which might have to be on a laptop, because the Adobe reader on laptops doesn't seem to have this option), and click on an icon that looks like three sheets of paper stacked on one another. This gives you four options which you can toggle on or off - Foreground Images, Background Images, Background, and Text. Turning off all but text will allow you to enjoy reading the text on what has suddenly (and almost magically) become a very plain book. You could even turn off all the options, and the entire book just becomes blank, as if the text were invisible, or switch off just the text and enjoy looking at the pictures and marvel at the book which apparently would have no content in it ...
  9. In case you hadn't noticed, Mage the Awakening Second Edition is now available through DriveThru. Read it. It has so many changes from First Edition that even Skeloric, if he were still here, would have found the book unputdownable.
  10. Vampire....Rape & Abuse metaphors?

But anyway, you ever miss the memo on this, and every other board on this site, that it is a really, really stupid idea to bring ancient dead things to life for a lark? Especially since the ancient dead thing moderating this thread is actually still here? So, locking it down now. And this time, barring intervention from anybody else, it's going to stay locked.
  11. C20_Book_of_Freeholds

It's finally hit DriveThruRPG. PDF $4.99 Softcover Color Book (Premium Heavyweight) $14.99 Softcover Color Book (Standard Heavyweight) $9.99 PDF + Softcover Color Book (Premium Heavyweight) $19.98 $16.99 PDF + Softcover Color Book (Standard Heavyweight) $14.98 $11.99 C20 Book Of Freeholds
  12. Just so you know, a police sketch artist did a sketch of Frankenstein's Creature, in order to compare the description with how he turned out in popular media.
  13. C20_Book_of_Freeholds

Which means it'll be on general sale on DTRPG eventually. Give the backers time to enjoy the book first. I'm guessing, end of the month, start of May. Mid May at the latest.
  14. We're back? Awesome.

Welcome back into the shadows, Jacob.
  15. Hello!

Hello, and welcome to Shadownessence! Make yourself home here in the shadows.
  16. Things I will do if I am ever the Vampire

Add to those:- "I shall occasionally siphon off money from some of my long-term investments to sink into scientific research into human longevity, as well as local blood banks and needle drives. If I look like the kind of humanitarian who looks after people, rather than feeding off them, the Heroes are far more likely to chase after the usual rancid-looking biker vampires in the district outside my patch instead, being the more obvious target as they are."
  17. Posting Book Lists

I'm slowly going to wend my way through the various game lines, creating links to where you can buy the books on DriveThruRPG, where they are available. So far this week (w/e 2018-03-11), I've done the game lines Beast: the Primordial, Demon: the Descent, Geist: the Sin-Eaters and Promethean: the Created. I will start on the other Chronicles of Darkness lines, including the actual Chronicles of Darkness / God-Machine Chronicle Blue Book line, next week, and then go through the World of Darkness lines.
  18. GM's Day Sale On Practically Everything

A reminder to the group that the sale on DriveThruRPG ends tomorrow, 2018-03-11.
  19. Surprised nobody's mentioned the 2018 annual GM's Day sale on practically everything on DriveThruRPG. A bunch of Onyx Path sourcebooks and rulebooks are at 33% off, only until March 11 2018. There's not a lot of time left to pick up a bargain.

  23. The following new books were released 2018-02-08 for Beast: the Primordial and Demon: the Descent:- Beast Players Guide "You know what’s out there? No, you don’t. Stop trying to list them off. Yeah, yeah, you’ve met the vampires and the werewolves and the ghosts and so forth, but you haven’t seen a hundredth of what’s really there. Look, I’m not shaming you. I’m trying to make a point. You don’t know. You never will. There’s no complete picture, no magic moment where you see the whole truth and get to yell “ah-ha!” You don’t know. I don’t know. We never will. That’s really a good thing, my sister, because it means there’s so much yet to see." —Zmei Night Horrors: Enemy Action "Fighting the Machine is like fighting the ocean. You literally cannot hurt it. Doesn’t matter how much poison we dump into the ocean. We’ll only kill the things in it. We’ll never kill it. Same with the God-Machine. Kill angels, traitors, stigmatics, cultists, cryptids, whatever, you’ll never hurt the Machine Itself. No, that doesn’t mean we stop trying. You stop trying, you drown. Screw that." —Mr. Bliss, Guardian Inquisitor
  24. What is this game?

Looks like the most primordial creatures of legend, such as Dragons, Krakens and Rocs, or even modern-day primordial monsters like Hulk, can only exist in a subdomain of the mages' Astral Plane. Their primordial astral forms seek out and Devour ordinary mortals, who then wander the globe looking for mortal fear to feed upon. So they prey on ordinary people, giving them nightmares and feeding - literally - off their fear. And if they feed too much, cause too many people to suffer, then Heroes spontaneously emerge, drawn instinctively to seek out and kill the Beast. They have one advantage: they have a power to make other supernaturals (vampires, werewolves, changelings, every species except mortal hunters and the Unchained) recognise them, and even accept the Beasts as friends. So Beasts can be found hanging with vampire coteries, exchanging recipes for biscuits with Seers of the Throne, discussing hunting tactics with Uratha, attending parties held by Sin-Eaters and so on.
